Today marks the start of the month of Ramadan for Muslims across the globe. Ramadan is a month of compassion, self-reflection, and a chance for communities to come together. It is also a special time marked by devotion, humility, and the spirit of helping others.
Through our efforts to advance U.S.-Turkey relations, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with both Turkish officials and everyday citizens throughout my travels in Turkey. In this short time, I’ve felt the warm and sincere welcome of the Turkish people and recognize the common U.S.-Turkey values that reflect the spirit of Ramadan.
On behalf of the American Mission in Turkey, my wife Cheryl and I wish you a blessed Ramadan.
