U. S. Ambassador to Turkey John Bass was in İzmir to attend an opening ceremony and for a courtesy call.

Ambassador Bass attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the E-cubed platform at Izmir University of Economics together with the Rector Prof. Dr. F.N. Can Şımga-Muğan along with the President of İzmir Chamber of Commerce / University’s President of Board of Trustees Ekrem Demirtaş. During his opening speech, Ambassador Bass said “Thank you very much for joining us here today. This space, as you can see, is called E3; 3 Es standing for English, Entrepreneurship and Education. There is no better place in Turkey than at this university that brings all three of those things together. So, we are delighted to be partnering with İzmir Economics University. We hope that through this unique platform, we are going to bring a little bit of States to you, we are going to help you improve your English a little bit, and we are going to give you new ways to think about being successful entrepreneurs in the future.”

After the E-cubed platform’s opening ceremony, Ambassador Bass gave a visit to Aegean Region Chamber of Industry’s Chairman of the Board Ender Yorgancılar. Mr. Yorgancılar introduced the Aegean region’s industry powerhouses with presentations and the two exchanged views regarding Izmir’s business-friendly environment that will surely continue to make this city an important destination for American companies and U.S. investment.
