On June 1, we hosted the Fourth of July Reception at the U.S. Consulate Istinye building to mark the 239th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence this year. The U.S. Ambassador to Turkey John Bass and Holly Holzer Bass with Consul General Charles F. Hunter and Ramadan Çaysever welcomed guests before the official ceremony. The U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard official presentation was followed by Turkish and American national anthems. Consul General Hunter and Ambassador Bass then made their opening remarks respectively.

The Governor of Istanbul, Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, local government representatives, religious community leaders and members of diplomatic, business, academic, cultural, NGO, media circles and American citizens living in Istanbul were among our guests attended the event. As the 22nd Istanbul Jazz Festival is radiating the light of jazz in the city these days, the Ayşe Cansu Tanrıkulu Quartet marked our celebration night with their amazing performance.
