Certain Family Members of Lawful Permanent Residents (F2A, F2B)
Required Documents
- Ongoing LPR Status of the Petitioner: The petitioner must provide evidence of their current lawful permanent resident status at the time of the visa application.
- DS-260 Form: Confirmation page from the Form DS-260 Application for an Immigrant Visa you submitted online at state.gov/iv
- Passport: Must be valid for six months beyond your intended date of entry into the United States.
- Document Delivery Registration: Before their interviews, all immigrant visa applicants must register their document delivery address by visiting www.ustraveldocs.com/tr/en/ or by calling +90 850 390 1950 from Türkiye or +1 313 572 0883 from the United States. During this process, you will select the location where your passport and visa packet will be delivered if your visa is approved.
- Medical exam: All immigrant visa applicants are required to undergo a medical examination by a panel physician designated by the consular section. The validity of the medical exam will determine the visa validity, which will be the last day to enter the United States.
- Color photograph: 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size, printed on photo-quality paper, two per applicant.
- Birth Certificate: The applicant must obtain an original and translation of their birth certificate and those of any family member immigrating with the applicant.
- Marriage Certificate: If you are married, you must present an original marriage certificate. A certificate is required for all marriages, including those that have been terminated. Not required for minor beneficiaries.
- If the applicant is a stepchild and is applying for an F2 visa classification requiring that the applicant be a child, they must obtain an original or certified copy of the marriage certificate of every marriage of the petitioner and the applicant’s natural parent. If the petitioner or applicant’s natural parent was previously married, the applicant must obtain evidence of the termination of every prior marriage. The evidence must be an original or certified copy of a final legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers.
- Petitioner’s Divorce Decree(s): If the applicant is applying for an F2A visa as the spouse of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and the petitioning spouse was previously married, they must provide evidence of the termination of every prior marriage of the petitioning spouse. The evidence must be an original or certified copy of a final legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers.
- Divorce Decree or Death Certificate: If the applicant was previously married, they must obtain evidence of the termination of every prior marriage. The evidence must be an original or certified copy of a final legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers.
- Military Card: Required for all male applicants above the age of 17. If the applicant has ever served in the military of any country, they must obtain an original and translation of their military record. If the applicant is exempted, they must obtain an original or certified copy of their exemption.
- Court Record(s): If any applicant has been arrested, charged, convicted, or imprisoned in any country, you must obtain a certified copy of each court record and any prison record, although you may have subsequently benefited from an amnesty. Court records should include complete information regarding the circumstance surrounding the crime of which you were convicted and the disposition of the case, including sentence or other penalty or fine imposed. In addition, copies of court records regarding name changes, age amendments, adoption and similar subjects must also be submitted. Originals, copies and English translations of these documents should be submitted at the time of interview.
- Police Certificate: If any applicant has lived in any other foreign country for more than 12 months, where a police certificate is available or was arrested for any reason, regardless of how long they lived there.
- I-864, Affidavit of Support: From your petitioner and any co-sponsor, if any.
- IRS Transcript and/or 1040 Tax Return Form and W2 Form for the most recent year from your petitioner and any co-sponsor, if any.
- If you have a co-sponsor, please include their US passport copy green card copy.
- Proof of Relationship: May include-but not limited to-photographs, email messages, phone logs, internet chat logs, and travel tickets which show a continuing relationship between petitioner and beneficiary. Not required for the beneficiary child.
- Previous passport with valid US. nonimmigrant visa, If applicable.
