Consul General Charles Hunter visited the former Ottoman Capitol of Edirne on Monday. September 28.
The Consul General took the opportunity to explore some of the city’s rich archeological and artistic heritage at the Turkish-Islamic Art Museum and the Archeology Museum.
He then met with civil society and government representatives to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the United States and Edirne Province. During meetings with Edirne Mayor Recep Gürkan and Edirne Governor Dursun Ali Şahin, Consul General Hunter expressed his support for Turkish efforts to host unprecedented numbers of refugees and migrants from Syria, Iraq and other countries.
