Demonstration at Middle East Technical University on December 16, 2015

U.S. Embassy Ankara informs U.S. citizens that a demonstration is expected to take place at the Middle East Technical University (METU) at 14:30 on Thursday, December 17, 2015. METU students will be protesting with the stated purpose of showing their solidarity with the Kurdish people. We anticipate possible large crowds to ‎attend.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
