Event: Message to U.S. citizens – Update on COVID-19 and Related Restrictions

As of April 3, the Turkish Ministry of Health has confirmed 20,921 cases of COVID-19,425 related deaths, and 1,251 patients in intensive care.

The following measures to combat COVID-19 are effective today, April 4:
-
Vehicles are not permitted to enter or depart Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Aydin, Balikesir, Bursa, Denizli, Diyarbakir, Erzurum, Eskisehir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Istanbul, Izmir, Kahramanmaras, Kayseri,Kocaeli, Konya, Malatya, Manisa, Mardin, Mersin, Mugla, Ordu, Sakarya, Samsun, Sanliurfa,T ekirdag, Trabzon,Van and Zonguldak.

All domestic flights have been suspended until April 20.

Residents under the age of 20 have been directed not to leave their homes (as was already the case for individuals 65 and above).

All individuals must wear cloth face coverings “where people are collectively located, including supermarkets, marketplaces, and workplaces.”

Limited flights from Istanbul are still available with connections to the United States on Qatar Airways and Belavia Airways. For flights through Minsk, Belarus, passengers must use a travel agency to book connections through Europe and to the United States.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised that foreigners are permitted to conduct inter-city traveling order to reach a flight back to their home country.Governors are responsible for handling travel permits for individuals in their province; there is no single national process.

If you are traveling by road to reach an airport,email us at one of the addresses below with your name, date of birth, passport number, current location, and flight information (number, date, time). Please also send us your mobile phone number.

Carry identity and travel documents with you at all times.

Seek travel permission from your governor’s office for inter-city travel.

Comply with local authorities at check points and clearly state your intention to depart Turkey immediately.

Visit the Turkish General Directorate of Civil Aviation for up to date information on Turkey’s international flights.
