“My City” Creativity Workshop With Youth From Turkey and Syria

“My City” youth creativity workshop was organized on May 10-12 in collaboration with the Tarlabaşı Community Center and the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul. Syrian and Turkish youth participants (ages 11-15) engaged in the workshop led by American strategist Lina Srivastava who combines media, technology, art, and storytelling for social transformation.

They first focused on dialogue, skills building, and storytelling, learning more about different and innovative media tools (including videos and images, comic graphics, virtual reality/VR, etc.).Using these tools and new skills, they then engaged to build a shared vision of what their future and their city can be.

Through collaboration and creative storytelling, this project aimed at engaging youth from different cultures in a joint effort for a more effective self-expression as co-habitants of the same city.
