Ambassador John Bass Visits Istanbul

The U.S. Ambassador to Turkey John Bass who has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September this year made his first visit to Istanbul on November 6-10, 2014. Accompanied by Consul General Hunter, Ambassador Bass paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Istanbul Vasip Şahin and the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Kadir Topbaş at their offices. During his visit, the Ambassador met with the Chief Rabbi Isak Haleva and Board of Jewish Community in Turkey; held a meeting with AmCham Turkey/ABFT members of the Board of Directors; and came together with some prominent members of Turkish business and social community at the Robert College’s 150th anniversary dinner. Ambassador Bass, along with his wife Holly Holzer Bass, met with the U.S. Consulate General employees in Istanbul and shared pleasant moments while posing in a “family selfie” with them. He then joined American and Turkish guests at the 2014 Commandant’s Marine Corps Ball celebrating the 239th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps as guest of honor.
