Linda Stuart Specht assumed her duties as Consul at the U.S. Consulate in Adana in August 2015. A career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, Ms. Specht served most recently as Deputy Director for Pakistan Affairs (2012-2014), Director of the Office of Economic Sanctions and Counter Terrorism Finance (2011-2012), and Deputy Director for Arabian Peninsula Affairs (2009-2011). She served two tours in Iraq, as a team leader for an embedded Provincial Reconstruction team (2008-2009) and as an Economic Advisor at the Coalition Provisional Authority in 2004. And in 2006-2007, she served as the U.S. Political Advisor to the Dutch Provincial Reconstruction Team in Uruzgan, Afghanistan. Since joining the Foreign Service in 1989, she also served abroad in Cameroon, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, and Suriname, and held positions working in the State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs on development assistance and investment policy.
Ms. Specht holds Master’s degrees from the U.S. National War College and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Dublin, Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. She has a son attending university in the United States.
