Renowned Documentary Photographer DeCesare in Istanbul

With work spanning more than thirty years, author, documentary photographer and educator Prof. Donna DeCesare discussed the importance of bearing witness to history while being respectful to interviewees, to audiences, and ourselves.
As part of her Turkey tour Prof. DeCesare came to together with academicians, students, NGO leaders, journalists, artists and psychologists in Istanbul to discuss her presentation on “Picturing Trauma: Challenges for Journalists.”

De Cesare is a 2013 Recipient of the Maria Moors Cabot Award for Journalism Contributing to Inter-American Understanding. This prestigious award is the oldest award for foreign correspondence and like the Pultizer is a major career recognition bestowed by the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
