U.S. Embassy Ankara informs U.S. citizens that the AK Party Women Branches Congress will be held at the Ankara Arena (intersection of Hipodrum Caddesi and Cumhuriyet Caddesi, across from the TCDD Train Station) on Saturday, December 5. We anticipate the size of the event to be up to several thousand people. Due to heightened security precautions by TNP, all roads around the event will be closed from early morning until 6 p.m.
Even events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of large gatherings, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
