The U.S. Embassy Ankara informs U.S. citizens that the Confederation of Public Employees Unions (Memory-Sen) will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Sunday October 25. The celebration ceremonies will be held at Ankara Arena Sports Hall (Ulus) at 17:00 hrs. Ankara Security Directorate announced that on Sunday starting from 12:00 hrs, following roads will be closed to traffic:
- Train station cross road of Cumhuriyet Road
- Baruthane crossing (its entry and exit)
- Hippodrome Street (Except the underpass between Ulastirma crossroad and train station crossroad)
- Kazim Karabekir street (between Ulastirma crossroad and Istanbul street)
The Embassy informs U.S. citizens that the National Movement Party (MHP) will have an election meeting on Sunday, October 25 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Tandogan Square in Ankara (approximately 2-3 miles away from the Embassy).
We anticipate that large crowds may attend each gathering.
Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
