Statement on Today’s Media Reports Regarding the ‘MIT Trucks’ Case

July 5, 2017 –  We are aware of media reports that the United States Embassy or Consulate General received phone calls from associates of Fethullah Gulen at the time of the “MIT trucks” case in Hatay province.  Contrary to press reports, the embassy and consulate general have not received any requests for information or been contacted by the prosecutor regarding this matter, and have no information to substantiate those claims.

The U.S. Department of Justice and other American agencies remain in close contact with their Turkish counterparts in the effort to investigate last year’s coup attempt and bring the perpetrators to justice.
