A Fulbright Scholar, Hafez Modirzadeh, is in Ankara to work with Prof. Dr. Ertugrul Bayraktarkatal from Baskent University on music collaboration. The duo calls themselves as “Two Friends in Ankara”. On November 17th, 2014 marks their first public performance that also commemorates the 15th anniversary of International Education Week 2014.

Dr. Hafez Modirzadeh is a Professor of Music at San Francisco State University, currently in Ankara on a Senior Fulbright award to conduct research on Prof. Dr. Ertugrul Bayraktar’s unique approach to Turkish traditional music. Professor Bayraktarkatal is the Dean of the State Conservatory at Baskent University, where both of them have been developing a musical dialogue stemmed from profound respect for each other’s musical cultures namely, Turkish makam, American jazz, and European classical. A preview of their ongoing work is premiered on November 17th, 2014 in celebration of International Education Week.
