For Immediate Release: June 27, 2019

Representatives of the U.S. Commercial Service Turkey and the U.S. Citizen Services Consular Agency in Izmir will begin offering services at their new offices located under the roof of the city’s leading civil society organization, Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO), later this summer.

The U.S. Commercial Service Turkey provides a variety of services through its offices in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir such as matchmaking and promotion, market research and assistance to Turkish companies interested in investing in the United States. The American and Turkish commercial specialists working at the U.S. Commercial Service Turkey identify key industry sectors where market demand is strong for U.S goods and services. They also organize trade missions in order to help U.S. companies enter high-opportunity Turkish sectors, as well as to help connect Turkish importers with the best U.S. suppliers.

The Consular Agency offers services to U.S. citizens visiting and living in west and southwest Turkey, covering the regions of Aydin, Denizli, Izmir, Manisa, Mugla and Usak. The Consular Agent is authorized to accept applications for United States passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, to notarize documents, and may assist in cases of illness, arrest, disappearance, or death of a U.S. citizen in Turkey. The agency does not offer visa services; U.S. nonimmigrant visa services are offered in Istanbul and Ankara, and U.S. immigrant visa services are offered only in Ankara.

The new office space will be inaugurated on June 27, 2019, with a ceremony to be attended by the Chargé d’Affaires, Jeffrey M. Hovenier, of the U.S. Embassy in Ankara as well as Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO) Chairman, Mahmut Özgener. The Commercial Service office will open immediately thereafter, and the Consular Agency will start providing services later this summer.
