U.S. Embassy Counselor for Public Affairs Scott Weinhold visited Antalya

Access Microscholarship

U.S. Embassy Counselor for Public Affairs Scott Weinhold was thrilled to visit the province of Antalya from January 28-29, 2018. During the trip, he stopped by Demre and toured St. Nicholas Church and the stunning new museum dedicated to Lycian civilization. In Demre, he had the pleasure to meet with young sports ambassador Emin Cengiz of the ‘Now The Ball is in Your Court’ project. Under this program, the U.S. provides grants for sports projects that build community and resiliency among young people, their teachers, families, and peers.

The ancient town of Simena, or Kalekoy, was the next stop, where Scott marveled at the wonders of ancient civilization. On this trip, Scott also met with the Chamber of Commerce of Antalya (ATSO) and discussed economic and bilateral relations with ATSO Board member Osman Avsaroglu. Finally, Scott gave opening remarks at the Alumni Access Program Leadership Summit, congratulating these remarkable students and teachers on their successes in English language teaching and learning.
